Have you noticed how many more online resources there are this year? With a second lockdown now in place the need for online help and support is greater than ever.
So, with this in mind we are embracing the virtual possibilities that the current situation has driven many of us to take part in.
After a lot of time thinking (a rare opportunity!) preparation and new techie purchases we are delighted to have started to move all our training and mentoring resources online.
Online ecology training
Launched this November, our How-to series of online courses has something for all abilities, so whether you are a new starter, early career, advancing or more experienced ecologist – we aim to cater for everyone.
We have adapted some our most popular bat mitigation courses, as well as crafted new courses to help ecologists maintain and progress their career development and CPD requirements. Two of our new courses include; how to prepare and deliver toolbox talks and how to choose and use bat boxes. These courses cover essential elements of ecology work for which, from our experience, training is not always easily available.
Courses will run for up to 90 minutes on Tuesdays, each month, so you can plan to get ahead one course at a time! All the courses are at a reasonable cost and can be booked through the website.
Videos and Social media
As our usual intake of trainee students and graduates have lost out on gaining practical opportunities this year, we decided to look at ways that we could continue to bring ‘on-the job’ experiences to them.
Follow us and subscribe to Ecology Matters – our new video resource. You can watch, as we share our thoughts and findings during surveys and other work.
A number of videos are ready to view and there are plenty more to come. Search YouTube for ecology training and mentoring to find us, or better still subscribe and be notified for all our new releases.
To complete our re-vamped training package we are also continuing to offer mentoring days. These are essential on-site opportunities that will help to provide a ‘see for yourself’ experience.
As soon as lockdown 2 is over we will resume these mentoring days. Anyone interested in on-site training will be invited to join us at one of our study sites or alternatively, we can arrange to come to a work or study site chosen by you.
